Traineeships
Fitness Industry Training works with a number of leading employers in the fitness and sporting industry to provide structured training to their employees under a traineeship arrangement. The Brisbane Broncos, JETTS Fitness and Community Fitness Queensland can all attest to the benefits that traineeships can provide to both employer and employee.
Traineeships are supported through the Commonwealth and State Governments and financial incentives are often available to employers who take on trainees under this arrangement. But the real incentive is that trainees are enthusiastic and motivated employees who with time, training and support are also skilled and developed to their organisation’s best practice. From an employer’s perspective, this is also a great retention strategy for quality personnel.
On completion of the traineeship, trainees will receive a Certificate III in Fitness (Gym Instructor).
Traineeships can enable you to:
- gain valuable work experience
- get paid while you learn
- learn the latest knowledge and skills
- get a qualification from Fitness Industry Training that is recognised across Australia.
Some basic facts about traineeships are:
- traineeships combine work with structured training
- traineeships vary in length from 12 months to two years, however are competency based and can be completed earlier
- traineeships can be full-time, part-time, or school-based - where some of the training is undertaken while the trainee is in high school
- traineeships require employers to enter into a training contract with the trainee
- employers work with Fitness Industry Training and the trainee to draw up the training plan
- training options are negotiated and outlined in the training plan.
On completion of the traineeship you will have learnt new skills and gained experience and confidence by working in fitness industry. This puts you in a great place to keep working or to go onto further study and upgrade your qualification to a Certificate IV in Fitness to live the dream as a Personal Trainer, or even start your own business.
In 2010, Fitness Industry Training underwent an Audit with the Department of Education to comply with AQTF Essentials Standards and Registration. This audit was successful and a summary of the Audit Outcomes is available here for your viewing. /images/FITSummaryofAQTFAuditInformation.pdf
